You will learn exactly how to hook wire from a speaker to a stereo or receiver safely!

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Wire cutter/splicers
  • electric tape
  • depending on speaker i prefer less than 8 gauge wire when choosing my wire choice!
  1. Step 1

Gather all of your tools and wiring (remember your choice in wire i prefer 8 or less gauge for a normal indoor speaker to stereo setup)

  2. Step 2

Once you have this done, just cut off a long enough piece for all of your positive speaker ends to go from where ever your speaker location to your stereo/receiver, also do the same for your black or negative wires.

  3. Step 3

Now just splice the ends of all your wires about a quarter to half an inch. Twist all frayed ends so each end looks as one

  4. Step 4

connect each positive and negative wire to your ___# of speakers. Usual the neg and positive labeled, negative = black, positive = red. They are also usually just press tabs so your spliced (what once was frayed but now is one) end can slide right into it. Occasionally there are spin offs as i call then they just spin off until you see a whole insert spliced end and screw back down!

  5. Step 5

Now after all wires are hooked up to the speakers make sure nothing is plugged into wall socket (to prevent injury). Take your other spliced ends and connect them to your stereo/receiver. (refer back to step 4 on the wiring information)

  6. Step 6

Double check all your work! make sure positive from stereo/receiver to speaker match and same with negative (this prevents a connection fade or loss of speaker power of any sort)

  7. Step 7

Now test your stereo or receiver test at low volume at first to make sure you have complete wire connection then VOLUME UP AS YOU WISH

  8. Step 8

    ENJOY your newly wired system!

Tips & Warnings
  • just be patient and its simple
  • Be carful with electrical outlets

on 11/23/2009 this sucks, anyone should be able to just plug red into red and black into black.. you really had to post this on here and waste my time?
if you say knew more about specific wiring instructions such as running speakers in a parallel set up that would actually be useful.
