This is a great cookie for breastfeeding mothers who need or want to increase their milk supply. This recipe contains some lactogenic foods (foods that increase milk production), such as oats, brewer's yeast and almonds. These cookies also taste great and make a great treat for even people who are not nursing moms. Does this Spark an idea?

Things You'll Need

  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 4 tablespoons water
  • 2 tablespoons flaxseed meal
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 cups oats
  • 1 cup raisins
  • 1/2 cup slivered almonds
  • 2 tablespoons brewer's yeast
  • Three mixing bowls
  • Ice cream scoop
  • Baking sheet

Instructions

      Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

      Mix the flaxseed meal and water together in a small mixing bowl, and set the mixture aside for three to five minutes.

      Cream together the butter and sugar in a separate bowl, then stir in the eggs.

      Stir flaxseed mix and butter mix together, then stir in the vanilla. Beat until well blended.

      Combine all dry ingredients (except oats, raisins and almonds) in a separate bowl. Add the butter mixture to the dry mixture. Stir well

      Stir in the oats, raisins and almonds.

      Drop dough balls onto greased baking sheet using an ice cream scoop. Bake 10-12 minutes.

  • Eat four cookies per day for optimal results.

  • If you have an overabundant milk supply, do not eat these cookies and limit your intake of oats and other lactogenic foods.
