How to Obtain a Public Court Record From Massac County, Illinois
The Freedom of Information Act requires that county courts make public information available to those individuals who request it. However, public records aren't always easy to access. To obtain a copy of a public court record, you will need to visit the local county Clerk's Office with important information pertaining to the case including the name, birth date and filing date.

Search the online database or microfiche at the courthouse for the case number of the court record you want to obtain. A case number is required to see or copy public court records. To perform a search using microfiche, you will need the defendant's name, date of birth and year the case was filed.

Take a letter to the Clerk's Office and ask them to conduct a search for you. The letter must include the defendant's name, date of birth, and the years you want searched. The clerk will charge a fee for each search they conduct for you. Once the case number has been obtained, the clerk will supply you with a copy of the court record if it is public.
