Incorporating candles at your wedding reception will set a romantic and soft mood. It will light up the whole room and create a breathtaking scene. You can use the candles in your centerpieces, on your cake table or as a unity candle for your ceremony. You have several options to decorate your candles. Be creative: You can include your picture on them with decal paper or decorate them with embellishments and rubber stamps.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Candle
  • Image
  • Inkjet decal paper
  • Acrylic, clear, high-gloss spray
  • Printer
  • 1 cup water
  • Embellishments
  • Rubber stamps
  • Tissue paper
  • Hot glue gun
  1. Step 1

Print an image, such as a photo of the bride and groom, on candle decal paper. Spray two to three coats of acrylic, clear, high-gloss spray on the printed sheet. The spray can be found at any craft store such as Michaels or Walmart. Let it dry for approximately 30 to 60 minutes. Once the image is dry, cut it out of the paper and place it in a cup of water for 45 to 60 seconds. Remove the back of the decal and apply the image to the candle.

  2. Step 2

Embellish candles with a beaded fringe around the rim of the candle or attach rhinestones using a hot glue gun at a low temperature. Consider other embellishments such as craft flowers, beads or butterflies, which you can find at most craft stores.

  3. Step 3

Stamp images related to a wedding, such as wedding rings, doves and hearts, on tissue paper. If you are having a themed wedding, you can also use images related to the theme, such as seashells for a beach-themed wedding. Secure the tissue paper on the candle with a dab of glue where you want the image to appear. Use a hot glue gun and aim at the image so that the wax melts through the paper, and the image is permanently on the candle.

Tips & Warnings
  • Ensure that the hot glue gun is not too hot, or it will melt the wax.
