Instructions

  1. Creating Invitations

    • 1
Take advantage of free graphics on the Internet for creating personalized "High School Musical" invitations.

Determine what size and color you want the invitations to be. Create a sketch on paper.

    • 2

Use an image search in your favorite browser for "free High School Musical graphics." When you find an image you want, right-click it with your mouse, select "Save As" and save the file to your computer (usually in .jpg format).

    • 3
If you have graphic design experience, use a photo-editing program such as Adobe Photoshop.

Cut your paper into 4 by 6-inch sheets or purchase card stock in that size.

    • 4

Set up your invitation template on your computer. Use a word-processing or photo-editing program. Choose "Page Setup" and click the correct paper size. Choose "Portrait" or "Landscape."

    • 5

To import a graphic or photo, click the "Insert" tab, "Picture" and then "From File." Your computer will ask you to find the image file on your computer. To insert text, click where you want the wording to appear. Modify the text by using the "Format" tab and "Font" menu selection.

    • 6
Think about words that are related to musicals and include them in your invitation.

For the invitation text, think about words related to musicals: backstage, tickets, performance, costumes, play, script etc. Make the invitation a ticket and ask guests to bring the "ticket" with them when they arrive, then enter the ticket invitations into a door prize drawing at the party. Or design a "theater program" with the party details.

    • 7

Insert the card stock into your printer according to the printer's guidelines. Choose "Print" from the "File" tab; ensure your page setup is correct. When your invitation emerges from the printer, let the ink dry for a few minutes. Repeat this process for the required number of invitations.

    • 8

Write the recipient's address with a glitter gel pen matching the envelope color.

    • 9

Include birthday or musical-note confetti inside the envelopes. Note on the back of each envelope that confetti is contained inside, so the recipient doesn't make a mess when opening the envelope.

Tips & Warnings

  • Print extra copies of your invitation in case someone's invitation gets lost in the mail or you decide to invite more guests. Save one extra invitation for placing inside your child's scrapbook.

  • If you're including additional items with the invitation--such as a map to the party, your child's photo, "High School Musical" stickers or birthday confetti--that could make the invitation bulky, have the envelope weighed at the post office to ensure correct postage.
