Things You'll Need:
- Responsible adult
- Appropriate Halloween costume
-
Step 1
The first way to keep your child or teenager safe this Halloween is to help them select an appropriate costume to wear. Make sure they are not going to wear anything inappropriate that might draw bad attention from strangers. Examples of costumes to avoid are any costumes that are low cut or show too much skin.
-
Step 2
After you know what costume your child or teenager will be wearing, make sure you know exactly where they will be Halloween night. It is best to take children trick or treating yourself, but if you are not able to take them make sure that whoever takes them trick or treating is a responsible adult. For teenagers, call ahead to where they say they are going to make sure a responsible adult will be monitoring the party or Halloween get together.
-
Step 3
After your child or teenager returns from trick or treating or a Halloween party check their Halloween candy. Throw away any candy that has a loose wrapper, looks like it has been altered in any way, or is not in a wrapper. This will help ensure that the candy is safe for your kids to eat.
