Stocks With High Dividends

Stocks with high dividends are a great investment for the beginner or advanced investor. Stocks that pay dividends are a great way to develop a stock portfolio that generates extra income regularly.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Research stocks that you are already interested in investing and see if they are paying a high dividend. On the stock quote screen look for a field that says "Yield". It will usually be in a percentage followed by a monetary value.

  2. Step 2

Use a stock screener. Most stock screeners will provide you the ability to search for stocks with high dividends only. Some stock screeners also have pre-set screeners to search for stocks with high dividends.

  3. Step 3

Read investment magazines. Most investment magazines have a section dedicated to stocks with high dividends. Compile a list of these stocks and research the investment before committing any money to them.

  4. Step 4

Research the stocks ability to pay out the dividend. If the dividend seems too high, make sure that the company has enough money to pay out the dividend.
