I decided this afternoon to give my chocolate-chip cookies a face lift. I've never switched up my recipe for thirty years, but for some odd reason, I wanted to add some texture to my ordinary, chocolate-chip cookie recipe today. By adding a combination of oats, toffee bits, nuts, and cran-raisins, the new taste was a big hit, and so I thought I would share this recipe with you right away!

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Everything you need to make chocolate chip cookies as noted on the back of the package
  • 1 Cup cran-raisins
  • 1 Cup toffee bits
  • 1 Cup quick oats
  1. Step 1
mix all ingredients first before adding in chips and extras

Before you add the below ingredients, add 1 teaspoon of water to your batter, and make sure your batter is a smooth, creamy consistency. Pre-heat your oven to 350 degrees.

Once you've mixed all the standard ingredients for routine, chocolate-chip cookies, start mixing in the additional ingredients here for added texture and tasty goodness! After you've added in the bag of chocolate morsels, stir in one cup of cran-raisins. (These can be found in the dried-fruit aisle at your grocery store).

Next, mix in, by hand, 1 Cup of quick oats. These oats can be found in the cereal aisle; feel free to purchase the store-name brand. This will bulk up the cookies, adding some of that texture I was trying to describe.

  4. Step 4

In addition to adding walnuts (optional), try tossing in 1 Cup of toffee bits; just one more, fun ingredient to give your cookies some zip!

  5. Step 5

Once all the additional ingredients have been mixed in by hand, drop on cookie sheet by the tablespoonful. Bake for ten-to-twelve minutes, until they appear slightly brown on top and all around. Let cool, and let your taste buds behold the newly-textured, chocolate-chip cookie!

Tips & Warnings
  • These are addictive, and it's easy to convince yourself they are good for you due to the cran-raisins and oats rolled into them!
