improve credit score after bankruptcy - Many Americans have been forced to file bankruptcy due to the bad economy turn of 2008. This article will give you steps to improve your credit score after you have filed bankruptcy.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Step one is to get a credit report and see where the worst reports on you are. Freecreditreport and equifax are a good websites for pulling your credit score. You should also pay attention to free online ads for this service as well. Some make you fill out a few forms but will still provide this service free if you opt out of their "specials".

  2. Step 2

After getting your scores back start making phone calls to the creditors who have given you a bad rating. See if you can work out a payment of payoff deal with them in return that they give you a better credit rating or remove the bad feedback on your report. Contact all companies and your credit score can increase quite a bit after they make updates.

  3. Step 3

The final step I would recommend is to pay your credit cards off on time and only have two open credit cards. Any more cards (credit, store cards, etc) can actually effect your score as well. Following these steps can have your score back in the 700's in less than a year.
