Cleanse from the inside out

With all the cleansers on the market, it's refreshing to sometimes step back and make your own, natural cleansing beverage. This is made with regular tap water and a few items you can pick up from your local produce dept. and start drinking right away!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Ginger root
  • Two Quarts of Water
  • Mint leaves
  • Peeled, seeded cucumber
  • Pitcher
  1. Step 1

Purchase a cucumber, ginger root, and mint leaves from wherever you get your produce. If you grow it yourself, you might not even have to buy any! Start with peeling and seeding your cucumber. I usually use one-half cucumber for this mixture; decide what balance of flavors you like best by experimenting a few times. Add your cut cucumber pieces to a 2 Qt. pitcher. Set the pitcher aside, as you proceed to step 2.

  2. Step 2
peel and cut into small chunks

Next, peel and cut into chunks up to 2 inches of ginger root. Add pieces of cut ginger root to the 2 Quart pitcher.

  3. Step 3
    minty fresh!
    minty fresh!

Whether you have home-grown or store-bought mint leaves, add approximately ten leaves to the pitcher with the other ingredients; you can use fewer or more, depending on the flavor you like best. Pour water over your cut-up pieces and let stand in the refrigerator overnight, so all the cut-up pieces have a chance to achieve maximum flavor!

  4. Step 4
use a 2 Qt. pitcher for your water.

As you consume your fresh, water cleanse, keep adding water to the pieces and stir for up to two days before dumping out the veggies and starting with the process all over again. Add amounts, depending on your personal preference, and after drinking this mixture for three days or so, you should start to feel refreshed and cleansed from the inside out. If you don't notice any changes in your digestion, it's still a good idea to drink as much water as you can daily, and this is a refreshing option to plain ol' water! Enjoy.

Tips & Warnings
  • Keep chunks small and use a spoon or strainer to keep the pieces out of your glass when you pour it for drinking.
  • Don't keep the pieces for longer than 48-72 hrs, depending on how "slimy" the pieces become after a while. Check on them, making sure they are still appear fresh.
