You can survive unemployment

Everyone likes to think that their business is going to survive and their company will never fire them. That is the dream. The reality is that the unemployment rates are skyrocketing and your pink slip may be next. Before they have a chance to fire you and send you to the unemployment lines, prepare yourself to survive unemployment.

Step 1

Accept the reality that you could be fired. It has happened to many people in the last few months as the dollar weakens, jobs are sent overseas, and businesses fail to survive. It is better to be prepared to survive unemployment and not need it than to need it and not be prepared!
Step 2

Spend your spare time looking for alternative methods of income. Writing on the internet now can provide residual money that can buy you gas and groceries later. Check out sites like this one. Add your written articles to Redgage. Build your side business now!

Consider an alternative job. Check out the possibilities in the resource section. These are all jobs that can be done while you work your full-time job. The money should be put aside for the day unemployment comes to your house. Many people start their own business and then quit their job before unemployment hits them.
Step 3

Learn to save money now. Simple living will allow you to save money and know how to continue should you be fired. Shopping with wisdom, saving and reusing things we used to throw away and using items that can be washed instead of throw away are all ways income can be saved.
Step 4

Buy extra food for storage while you are still employed. Set aside food items, like beans, rice, flour, salt, frozen foods, that will store well until when you need them. These products will help you survive. What you don't have to buy when times are lean is the same as money saved.
Step 5

Pay down your bills now. Make extra payments on the principal and eliminate debts like credit cards and loans. The lower the number of payments you have to make during your unemployment time, the easier it will be for you.

Think now. How will I survive if I am fired or my business fails? Take steps that will keep you from becoming an unemployment statistic. Start today.
