How to Use the Pencil Grip

When children first start writing with pencils or other kind of utensil, they can find it difficult to hold the object in the correct manner. This is where the pencil grip comes in. The pencil grip is placed on the edge of the pencil and guides the child's hand and fingers to the correct location, allowing him or her to learn to write far quicker than he or she would without the specialized grip.

Things You'll Need

• Pencil
• Pencil Grip

Instructions

1. Slice the pencil grip over the pencil and keep it about a half-inch or so away from the tip of the lead (the precise location can be adjusted at any time).

2. Place the thumb in the bottom grove of the grip.

3. Squeeze down on the top of the grip with the index finger. Your middle finger will rest against the side of the grip.

4. Slide the grip up as the pencil wears down and needs to be sharpened. The pencil grip can be removed and placed on any other pencil or writing device you would like.
