How to Install Icon Sets
In computer terms, an "icon" is a graphical representation of a program. These are placed on your desktop during a program's installation and are what you click on with your mouse to execute the software. What many users don't realize is that these icons can be changed at will. Oftentimes icon "sets" (meaning collections of many different icons) are downloaded off the internet. Changing a default icon to one from an icon set is a simple task that takes only a few seconds to complete.

1
Right click on the existing program shortcut whose icon you wish to change. A dialog box will appear with a variety of option tabs at the top. Click on the "Shortcut" tab to bring up the box where you will change your icon.
-
2
Click on the option that reads "Change Icon." This will bring up a selection of default icons from which you can choose a new one. To select your new icon set, select the "Browse" option. This will allow you to search your computer for your new icon set. Note that for an icon set to be able to work the files must either have a .ICO file (a single icon) extension, a .DLL file extension (a collection of multiple icons) or a .ICL file extension. Select the file from your hard drive that represents your icon set and the icons will now be in place of the default icons from the previous screen.
