Handwriting and penmanship can tell you a lot about a person. Many people harbor this belief, which is what makes it important to realize that your handwriting imparts an impression upon others-often times the first impression. Follow these steps to improve handwriting.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Write slower.

To improve penmanship, write slower and more deliberately. You do not have to maintain a slow handwriting style indefinitely, but writing slowly to improve handwriting initially can help you write neater once you gain speed.

  2. Step 2

    Adopt a style of handwriting.

A large part of nice handwriting involves consistency of style from word to word, line to line of penmanship. Find a style which you can stick to and your handwriting will look more visually appealing to readers.

  3. Step 3

    Practice your penmanship.

Practice helps improve handwriting so find any opportunity you can to write the old fashioned way rather than typing into a computer document. So many documents are typed nowadays that handwriting skills have deteriorated. Start practicing better penmanship by handwriting letters to friends or writing in a daily journal.

  4. Step 4

    Make it readable.

Make certain that your handwriting is easily read by others. It's nice to have handwriting that looks nice, but the most important thing is that it's easily read. Ask a friend for an honest opinion on whether or not your handwriting is legible.
