For some, having an orgasm is an elusive concept. It is the climax of sexual stimulation and happens differently for men and women. Many people have sexual intercourse many times before they are able to achieve an orgasm, though few people are completely unable to have an orgasm.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

For men, an orgasm is generally defined by the involuntary contracting of muscles in the lower pelvis and in the anal region.

  2. Step 2

The tart of orgasm is usually immediately followed by ejaculation of a white liquid, known a semen. It is accompanied by a heightened sexual sensation.

  3. Step 3

For women, an orgasm can be more difficult to identify. The female orgasm is characterized by involuntary rhythmic contraction of muscles in the wall of the vagina and additional wetness in the vulva.

  4. Step 4

A female orgasm is usually accompanied by a euphoric sexual feeling, increased heart rate and a flush of the face and chest.

Tips & Warnings
  • Some people have trouble reaching orgasm because of anxiety or nervousness. Some people find that masturbation can help understand what feels good and what doesn't so that intercourse can be more pleasurable.
  • If problems reaching an orgasm persist or if there is pain in the genitals, see a doctor.
