How to Get Driving Instructions

When it comes to learning how to drive, the more experiece you are able to receive the better. This will often come with driving along side an already licensed, experienced driver. The experienced driver will be able to give you pointers on how to handle situations on the road which you are likely to face. In conjunction with the instructions, you can sign up for drivers education courses as well.

    • 1

Ask an adult or someone with several years of driving experience if they would be willing to ride along with you.

    • 2

Drive the car with the adult or other individual giving you instructions on what to do, such as how to merge into another lane, how to properly brake and what the best distance is to follow other cars.

    • 3

Practice on the highway as well. Many individuals are a little nervous to drive on the highway for the first time due to the fast speeds; however, it may actually be easier because of less traffic (typically) and fewer stops.

    • 4

Sign up for driver's education classes. These can be taken through either your local school or a community center. These teachers will be able to give your further instructions and answer any questions you have. They will also be able to correct anything your original instructor may have told you that was incorrect.

    • 5

Take the driver's test. This will consist of many different driving scenarios, such as merging lanes, getting on/off the highway and using other features in the car while you keep your eyes on the road. You will also be tested on parking.
