Step 1
Brush your teeth at least 3 times daily. Once when you first wake up, once in the middle of the day, and then right before you go to sleep at night. If you have time to brush in between, or after you eat something, then do it. Use a toothpaste that has whitener in it.
-
Step 2
Floss whenever you brush. Don't skip this important step. Flossing will keep your gums healthy and protect against gum disease and gingivitis. It will also keep your teeth healthy. Small pieces of food get trapped between teeth where brushing can not reach. If you do not floss, plaque will form between teeth.
-
Step 3
Use mouthwash in your brushing and flossing routine. Mouthwash can help loosen plaque deposits and keep your gums and mouth healthy and fresh.
-
Step 4
Minimize candy and sugary sweet snacks. A diet with too much sugar can cause yellow teeth, cavities, and other dental problems.
-
Step 5
Stop smoking. Yeah, this is a tough one if you smoke, but you know that it makes your teeth yellow and it's not good for your health overall.
-
Step 6
Stop drinking too much coffee or tea. These beverages can stain your teeth and make them yellow. Try to cut out that extra cup you drink.
-
Step 7
Be sure to visit your dentist every six months for a checkup. This should include a full cleaning and a fluoride treatment.
