Instructions

    • 1

Disconnect the spark plug. The spark plug is located on the engine near the rope that you pull to start the motor.

    • 2

Remove the cover over the belt wheel drive. On most mowers, the front deck cover can be detached by just snapping it off. This cover is located on the front of the mower. You may need to unfasten screws to take it off. Once the cover is off, you'll see the belt, which is located just below the motor.

    • 3

Tilt the mower towards its front wheel and remove the belt from the wheel pulley. Lift and slide it over the engine. You may need to tilt the mower onto its back wheels to remove the other side of the belt from the blade pulley.

    • 4

Put a new belt onto the wheel drive. Place it onto the drive the opposite way you took the old belt off by putting one side on the blade pulley and the other side on the wheel pulley.

    • 5

Adjust the belt by moving around the drive so the it tightens on the pulleys. Place the cover back on the mower and reconnect the spark plug.

Tips & Warnings

  • Never change the belt directly after using the mower. Make sure that the mower has not been running for at least an hour before changing the belt.
