Fountain Pen Nib

A fountain pen is a nib pen that contains an internal reservoir of ink that automatically feeds the writing point of the pen. The ink flows from the internal reservoir to the nib of the pen and onto the paper with very little pressure. Occasionally, you may want to interchange the nib of your fountain pen to use a different type of nib or because the current nib is damaged. There are many different types of nibs, such as fine-tipped and medium-tipped.

Instructions

    • 1

Wipe any ink from the nib of your fountain pen.

    • 2

Tear off a two- to three-inch piece of clear, plastic tape.

    • 3

Adhere the piece of tape firmly to the nib of the pen.

    • 4

Pull the tape slightly down and away from the pen to pull the nib off.

    • 5

Line up the replacement nib with the ink feed and push it on firmly.

Tips & Warnings

  • Clean out your nib every two weeks to avoid ink clogging.

  • Do not use magic tape to pull the nib from the pen because it tears too easily; use standard office tape instead.
