Instructions

    • 1

Flip up your shirt collar and lay the tie across the back of your neck with a 1 foot length of the narrow end on one side and the wide end hanging close to your knee. Cross the wide end over the narrow end 4 inches in front of the top button. All tying moves wrap the seam side of the tie around the forming knot, leaving the display side out. For better results, perform the steps in front of a mirror.

    • 2

Pinch the intersection and hold it still while twisting the wide end under the loop formed around your neck, and over the intersection in front.

    • 3

Twist the wide end around the back of the short piece on the outside of the loop. Pull it across the front of the short piece and down through the front of the loop. (Grab the wide section from underneath the loop and pull it down after pushing part of it through.)

    • 4

Twist the wide section across the front of the knot to form a horizontal wrap. Slip the wide section through the loop from behind and allow it to fall across the front of the knot.

    • 5

Open the horizontal wrap in front by slipping a finger behind it. Lace the wide end of the tie between the knot and the horizontal wrap. Hold the short piece and pull down on the wide side to tighten the wrap around it. Pinch the top of the wide end together with a finger between the two sides as it gets constricted to create a dimple.

Slip the narrow end of the tie into the label behind the back of the wide end to keep the two sections from separating. Clip or pin the tie to the shirt to keep it from dangling unsafely near machinery, or just for a decorative touch.
