Things You'll Need:
- Phillips head screwdriver
- Prying tool
-
Step 1
Disconnect the ground wire from the battery to the frame of the Dodge Ram.
-
Step 2
Remove the dash panel underneath the steering wheel, near the ignition, with a prying tool.
-
Step 3
Remove the screw holding the dash panel in place. The screw can be found in an inlet at the lower right of the panel, near the glove-box.
-
Step 4
Remove the entire panel encasing the stereo by prying it loose at the edges, first starting at the bottom right, and working all the way around. The panel will drop free but will still be connected by climate control wires. This will allow access to the stereo.
-
Step 5
Remove the stereo mounting screws. There are two screws on either side of the stereo; four screws in all.
-
Step 6
Pull the stereo forward to access the connections in the rear. Disconnect the wiring to the back of the stereo, including the antenna connection. The stereo will be free from the Dodge Ram, and the slot will be ready to receive a new stereo.
-
Step 7
Reconnect the ground wire to the battery once your work is done.
