How to Change the Brake Lights in a Ford Windstar

The Ford Windstar was a minivan that was sold by Ford Motor Company from 1994 to 2003. During this time, the Windstar developed a long list of reliability issues including known head gasket failure problems, faulty axle design and transmission problems. As frustrating as this was for Windstar owners, regular maintenance had to be done on the van. One of the more common maintenance procedures was replacing the rear brake lights.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Philips head screwdriver
  1. Step 1

    Open the rear lift gate and locate the rear taillight assembly.

  2. Step 2

    Remove the two screws holding the top of one of the rear taillight lens' in place.

  3. Step 3

    Rotate the bulb counterclockwise, and pull it out of the taillight housing.

  4. Step 4

    Push in a new bulb, and turn clockwise to lock it into the taillight housing.

  5. Step 5

    Replace the lens cover and tighten the lens cover screws.

  6. Step 6

    Repeat Steps 2 through 5 for the other brake light housing.
