How to Recover Deleted Files With NTFS Freeware

NTFS is the standard hard drive format for all computers that use a Microsoft Windows operating system. Files on the NTFS formatted hard drive, like any other format, can be deleted, only to be needed later. These files can be recovered with freeware downloads from the Internet (freeware is any program or application which can be downloaded from the Internet free of charge).

Instructions

    • 1

Download the freeware "Glary Utilities." This is a powerful program which helps keep Microsoft Windows in running order. It also has a deleted file recovery option. (See Resources for link.)

    • 2

Install the freeware. Do this by opening the desktop icon. The installation wizard will launch, then follow the prompts to complete the setup.

    • 3

Open Glary Utilities. Click the "Modules" tab, followed by "Privacy & Security." A group of selections will arise on the screen. Select "File Undelete."

    • 4

Select the drive you want to scan for recoverable files, than click "Scan." The program will perform a comprehensive scan of the drive.

    • 5

View the recoverable files on the right side of the screen. Select the files you want to recover by checking the box next to their names. Click "Restore" and the once deleted files will be restored back to their original location.
