How to Draw the Cat in the Hat
The Cat in the Hat is that mischievous character who provided a day's worth of rainy-day entertainment to the children when their mother was out. He made messes and broke rules, but in the end, everything was put back right, and the children were busy instead of being bored. How fun it might be to draw this iconic character. Find a copy of the "Cat in the Hat" book. Use if for reference while you draw the Cat in the Hat on the cover.

Begin by drawing the outline of his hat. His hat bends to the right at the halfway point. Make the brim and draw the stripes, making them bend with the hat.

Add the outline of his head. One ear is visible over the brim of the hat. Make a tuft of hair in the front under the hat. The front of his face bulges out into the top of his smile, and then his head narrows sharply down into his neck.

Draw the details of his face. Add his eyes and nose and the rest of his smile. Draw his bow tie at his neck.

Finish by adding the remaining details, including his whiskers and eyebrows. Add shading along the side of his face and neck, if desired. Add red color to every other stripe and his bow tie.

I love to draw and I have a Dr. Seuess book. I'm in the Red Hat Society and one of our Queen's, Queen Diamond, also goes by the Name Brat in the Hat, so I've decided I'm going to draw the cat for her, but since she's not fifty, yet, and is still a "pink" hatter, I'm going to do the hat pink and white and the tie will be lavendar, because you can't wear the purples and reds until you "reduate" at the age of fifty! I think she'll like it!
