How to Save Your Internet Explorer Favorites List

Over time it can be easy to build up a long favorites list while browsing everything on the internet with Internet Explorer. If your computer crashes all that work saving those sites is gone.

With a few simple steps you can save your whole favorites list and no longer fear losing all those favorite sites you added to your favorites list.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Windows computer
  • Internet Explorer
  1. Step 1

    Open up your Internet Explorer browser.

    At the top of your your Internet Explorer browser click the word File.

    Move your mouse down the File menu until the words Import and Export are highlighted. Click the highlighted Import and Export.

    The next window will show 2 options, select the option that says 'Export to a file.'

    A new menu with three options will appear: Favorites, Feeds, Cookies.
    Click the favorites box. A check will then appear in the box.
    Click the next button.

    A window will pop up asking where to save your favorites list. Click the Export button if you are ok with the location it displays.
    If not, click the browse button to save it to another location in your computer and then click Export.

  7. Step 7
    Finished!
    Finished!

    Click the Finish button and you are done.

Tips & Warnings
  • Saving to your desktop or a flash drive will help you find the file easier.
