Take Care of A Siberian Husky

Siberian Huskies are beautiful dogs who provide great companionship. It's important to return the love your companion gives you. Siberian Huskies are high maintenance dogs who need a lot of attention. Here are some important information and tips about caring for your Husky.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

NEVER let your Siberian Husky off their leash in an unconfined area.If you let your husky off their leash, it is likely that they will run and will not stop for miles. This is not because your husky does not love you. Your husky was born with an innate love of running. The first huskies were breed to be quick runners and this will always remain in their DNA.

  2. Step 2

Huskies are extremely friendly and will greet everyone like a friend. For this reason, huskies will not make good guard dogs. However, this makes them the perfect family dog as they will love your children and everyone else just as much as they love you.

  3. Step 3

Contrary to popular belief, a husky can be kept in a hot climate. A husky's thick coat protects them from both the cold and the hot. However, if you live in a hot climate and sometimes leave your Siberian Husky outside, it's important to give them a few things to withstand the heat. Make sure there is a shady area your husky can lie under. Provide him with a constant supply of fresh water. You should also keep the water in the shade. It's also a good idea to buy your husky a plastic, shallow and inexpensive kiddy pool and fill it with water. Encourage your husky to take a dip and cool off in the water.

  4. Step 4

Huskies crave company. Make sure your husky isn't alone for long periods of time during the day, especially when they're still puppies. Your husky loves interacting with you and other people and will thrive in a loving environment. If they get too lonely, they will become destructive. If you are unable to give a husky the attention they need, you should think about other breeds you might like.

  5. Step 5

All dogs need exercise but a husky will REALLY need exercise. If your husky does not get enough, he will become very destructive. You will need to take your husky out everyday to play, walk and run. If you are a runner, it is a good idea to take your husky running with you. Don't worry about your husky getting too tired. Your husky was born to run.
