Playing Basketball H-O-R-S-E is a great neighborhood game. If you want to beat everyone in the neighborhood you should know some good trick shots to eliminate the competition. In this article I will focus on the 360-Degree Spin Shot. If you practice this shot and become proficient, you can WOW your competitors.

Difficulty: Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Basketball
  • Basketball Hoop
  1. Step 1

Position yourself at the left elbow of the free-throw line facing the basket. You will be approaching the basket from the left side.

  2. Step 2

Dribble towards the basket with your left hand.

  3. Step 3

When you reach the point where you would normally jump for a two-foot takeoff layup, utilize that same motion to come to a two-foot jump position.

  4. Step 4

With your momentum and head facing the basket, explode up and aggressively rotate your body to the left by moving your left shoulder back. This must be an explosive rotation, as you are attempting to spin your body in a complete 360-degree pattern.

  5. Step 5

Be sure to keep your eyes focused on the level where the basket is. You will lose sight of it while spinning, but it will come back into view when you are reaching the culmination of your spin.

  6. Step 6

With the basket back into view, proceed to take a shot off the backboard.

Tips & Warnings
  • Although this shot can be performed from a stationary position, you will find it much easier to do it on the move, as your body will have more momentum to execute the spin.
  • If you are left handed, reverse the direction.
  • You can try the shot from both sides, but it is easier to shoot from the opposite side than your shooting hand—the spin takes you towards the basket.
