If you are lucky enough to live in the country then this is very easy but also doable in cities. First go to your local salvation army. You can find loads of items that you can use as decorations. The local salvation army has literally hundreds of different kinds of weaved baskets for .25 cents a piece. They have both synthetic and natural baskets available and they can be used a number of different ways. for example you can purchase natural gourd and arrange them in baskets. the gourds and the baskets will last a long time indoors and outdoors.

If you know of any local farms in the area you can seek permission to look around the area and you will likely find old wagon wheels that make a wonderful center piece for an outdoor display. Scarecrows of course can be made using old clothes, the salvation army normally also has a number of different decorative and straw hats and things you can use in the making of a scarecrow. While you are searching farms you can also purchase hay bales very cheaply and also corn stalk bundles. They will be much cheaper than store bought

Fall decorations can be very cheap if you are willing to put in a little work and take the time to find what you like and what you need.

Tips & Warnings
  • Spraying down a scarecrow with water repellent used for things like hiking boots will make the scarecrow last longer without rotting.
  • Hay bales and corn stalk bundles are much cheaper when bought directly from a farmer rather than a store. They may be 80% cheaper easily
  • Baskets are a pest for the salvation army.. don't feel bad about buying them
