Step 1
Buy directly from an organic food grower or a grower’s produce stand. If you are interested in saving money and supporting organic food growers then you should consider buying your organically grown food from farmer’s markets and family farms. Buying local also means fresher produce. A lot of mom and pop grocery outlets also support local growers of organic food. This would be the next best thing to buying directly from the grower.

Step 2
Buy generic label organic products from your local supermarket. Wal-Mart, Kroger, Whole Foods, Safeway and other major grocery chains carry a variety of organic produce with their own store brand label. It is nice to know that organic foods sold through grocery chains go through the same organic standards as brand name organic foods in order to be certified organic. Your local supermarket may also offer added savings with coupons and specials.

Step 3
Buy seeds and start your own organic garden. An organic garden is a great way to raise your own organic foods. You don’t have to have a farm or be a horticulturist in order to start your own organic garden. You can easily start with a few potted plants or expand as big as you desire. Before you begin be sure to educate yourself on organic fertilizers and natural pesticides. If you’re up to the challenge you may even want to explore making your own home-made, eco-safe biodegradable pesticides. Be sure to also consider making your own natural fertilizer utilizing a compost pile.
