The Vanishing Card requires usage of the Palm Technique. The magician allows the spectator to choose a card at random, but after saying any form of magic words, the top card, previously her chosen card, changes! And the chosen card is nowhere to be found! Here is how to make it vanish.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

To start, moisten your hands a bit, either with a drop or two of water or sanitizer.

  2. Step 2

Go through the usual setup motions. You shuffle and cut, she shuffles and cuts, then she is allowed to select any card from the deck.

  3. Step 3

She places her chosen card on top of the deck, remembers its suit and value, but does not tell you.

  4. Step 4

With her card on top of the deck, place the back of your left hand onto the front of the right hand as if to make wings, and have the back of your right hand on top of the deck.

  5. Step 5

While you're explaining to her that she needs to repeat these actions while saying magic words, the moistness of your hand is actually going to lift the top card away.

  6. Step 6

This has to be done very carefully, and when you remove your hands, be sure to drop the card into your lap or somewhere hidden from view.

  7. Step 7

She will place her hands over the deck, say whatever magic words, and be shocked upon the revelation that the top card has changed.

  8. Step 8

She goes through the deck to find that her card has vanished. An even cooler way of doing this would be to sneak a duplicate of her chosen card in her pocket before the trick begins, and force that card on her!
