Lean to make your scarecrow last through the fall season.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

You want to make a scarecrow that will last through fall without rotting and falling apart on you. So how do you make a scarecrow last through the fall season?

  2. Step 2

When building a scarecrow consider the materials you are using to build him or her. Materials may start to mildew and grow mold slower or faster than others. Having an inner structure to give the scarecrow structural integrity will keep him from falling apart and using water repellent sprays will help to prevent water logging.

  3. Step 3

When building a scarecrow using a inner structure of a simple cross section like a cross to hold the inside of the scarecrow together will prevent him or her from falling apart if you need to adjust or move it around.

Using straw for example vs. leaves as stuffing is a much tougher material and because its longer it will stay together better. Using plastic sheets to wrap the inside of the scarecrow by either lining the clothes you are going to use or by wrapping the hay before putting it into the scarecrow will greatly slow any decay.

Using a water repellent spray on the clothes the clothes and bringing the scarecrow in during heavy rain will stop any water from getting in.

Using these tips will make a much longer lasting scarecrow that will be around for the whole fall season rather than just a few days.
