Yahoo Messenger users are able to communicate with other members of the Yahoo community via instant messaging. There may be times when you need to read or send instant messages while you are away from your computer. As a result, Yahoo and other similar web portals allow users mobile access to an instant messaging client. Yahoo users who wish to access the application on the go can set up Messenger on their cell phones.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

    Via Text Message

  1. Step 1

Sign in to your Yahoo Messenger account from your computer.

  2. Step 2

Click on the "Messenger" tab located at the top of the window.

  3. Step 3

Choose the "Sign in to Mobile Device" option. You should see a dialogue box called "Register a Mobile Device."

  4. Step 4

Select the country in which your mobile phone number is registered from the drop-down menu. Enter your phone number into the field below. At this point, Yahoo will send a four-digit confirmation code to your phone via text message. See Resources if you are having trouble obtaining the access code.

  5. Step 5

Retrieve the confirmation code, and enter it into the appropriate field on the" Registration" screen.

  6. Step 6

Deselect the "Automatic Sign-in" feature if you do not wish to be automatically signed in to Yahoo Messenger on your phone each time you log out of Messenger on your computer.

  7. Step 7

Click on the "Messenger" tab at the top of the Messenger window. Select the "Sign in to" option, which should be followed by your mobile number. You will now be able to receive messages on your phone via SMS.

Open the web browser on your cell phone.

  10. Step 2
