How to Get a Florida Repossession License

Recovery agents are individuals or agencies who provide or perform repossessions on properties from motor vehicles to mobile homes and aircrafts. They serve in a position of trust and must be licensed to ensure the interest of the public is protected. In Florida, recovery agent licenses are handled and regulated by the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Division of Licensing.

      Meet basic qualifications for a recovery agent license. You must be at least 18 years of age, a citizen or legal resident alien of the U.S. or have been granted authority to work in the U.S., and provide current residence address. Applicants must also have one year of experience or training in repossession of motor vehicles, mobile homes, motorboats, aircraft, or watercraft or have worked as a class "EE" licensed intern.

      Submit the application form and fee (amount can be found on the application form) along with any additional documentation noted on application to the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Division of Licensing, Post Office Box 6687, Tallahassee, FL 32314-6687.
