Installing a dual exhaust on a Ford station wagon is the exact opposite of removing it. However, if you had the exhaust removed for you or you are doing custom work for your vehicle in stages, you may need a refresher on how to install a new dual exhaust. The dual exhaust for the Ford station wagon is an aftermarket exhaust system that splits the exhaust into two exhaust tips. You'll need a basic set of tools and at least an hour to install the new exhaust.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Socket wrench with socket set
  • New one-piece exhaust system with gaskets
  • O2 sensor tool
  • Jack stands
  1. Step 1

Support the dual exhaust system with jack stands underneath the Taurus. The catalytic converter needs to be facing the front of the vehicle and the muffler needs to be at the rear of the vehicle.

  2. Step 2

Secure the dual exhaust piping to the hangers underneath the station wagon. The hangers are metal hooks with a rubber loop attached to the end of the hook. Slide the metal hook on the exhaust system through the rubber loop attached to the body's metal hooks.

  3. Step 3

Install the oxygen sensors from the old exhaust system into the dual exhaust using the O2 sensor tool. Thread the O2 sensor and turn it clockwise to tighten. There is one sensor before the catalytic converter and one after.

  4. Step 4

Plug the electrical connectors into the O2 sensors.

  5. Step 5

Put a gasket against the mating surface of the exhaust piping and bolt the exhaust piping to the exhaust manifold at the back of the engine.
