Things You'll Need:
- Flathead screwdriver
- Carpet cleaning solution
- Hot water
-
Step 1
Check the water compartment if you start to notice no spray or a reduced amount of spray coming out of the machine during use. Remove the compartment from the Bissell Proheat and fill with hot tap water.
-
Step 2
Look at the compartment for the cleaning formula if the steam cleaner stops spraying. Refill with carpet cleaner if it is empty. Bissell recommends that you use Bissell Advanced Formula brand.
-
Step 3
Clean out the filter if the Bissell Proheat seems to be picking up a reduced amount of dirt from your carpet. Access the filter by removing the flow indicator cap on the base of the machine. Lift out the filter and rinse all parts, using tap water, before returning it back to the machine.
-
Step 4
Prime the Bissell Proheat if the trigger stops working during operation. Turn the machine off and wait a full minute before turning back on. Depress "Trigger" a single time and then resume using.
-
Step 5
Examine the pump belt and brush belt for damage if the brushes do not turn on. Use a flathead screwdriver to open the belt access door on the base of the Bissell Proheat. Release the snaps holding the belts in place and check them both for breakage. If they are broken, call Bissell for replacement belts.
