Keep produce safe with a FoodSaver bag.

FoodSaver is the trademarked name for a home packaging system specializing in vacuum-sealed bags for foods. The company claims that bags made with their system keep meat and produce fresher in the refrigerator, prevent freezer burn and keep insects out of foods stored in cabinets and pantries. Bags created with the system are also used with non-food items to keep out moisture and mildew. You can make your own custom-sized bags with FoodSaver Rolls and a bag-sealing device called the FoodSaver Vac 350. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Place the FoodSaver Vac 350 on a flat surface and plug it in.

    • 2

Unroll your FoodSaver roll to the desired length, which should be at least the length of the item you want to bag, plus 3 inches. Cut the length of bag material straight across.

    • 3

Lift the Vac 350 lid. If it won't lift, press simultaneously on the stars on either side of the device to release the lid.

    • 4

Lay one end of the bag material on the Vac 350 sealing strip.

    • 5

Close the lid and lock it by pressing on the stars while pressing in the locks on the sides of the device.

    • 6

Press and hold the "ON" button to seal the bag. You will hear a sound and see a light. Release the button when the light goes off and you stop hearing the sound.

    • 7

Lift the Vac 350 lid. You have made a FoodSaver bag.
