How to Troubleshoot a KDS LCD Monitor

Save

The KDS corporation has become one of the leading manufacturers of flat-screen computer monitors that use LCD technology, which stands for liquid crystal display. All KDS monitors are compatible with both PC and Mac computers. If you have trouble getting your desktop to properly display on your KDS monitor and instead see a "No Signal" message, there are several troubleshooting steps to follow.

Things You'll Need

  • VGA or DVI video cable
  • Check to make sure that the monitor is powered correctly. Plug the power cable firmly into the monitor's power adapter, and ensure that the monitor is connected to a working outlet.

  • Connect your computer to the KDS monitor with a different VGA or DVI cable to find out if the problem is due to a bad cable. Always make sure that both ends of the video cable are firmly plugged in to the computer and monitor.

  • Press the power button on the front of the monitor twice to see if restarting the monitor will make the computer picture display.

  • Go to the KDS download page (see Resources) and download an updated driver for the monitor model you are using. After installing the driver, try connecting your computer to the monitor again.

  • Open the "Display" control panel on your PC or Mac computer and lower the display resolution and refresh rate to see if an improper setting was causing the issue with your monitor.
