Things You'll Need:
- Colored paper or cardstock
- Various ink colors
- Ribbon
- Buttons
- Cloth scraps
- Computer
- Printer
- Software
-
Step 1
Choose a piece of cardstock and fold it in half to begin your greeting card. Match the two shorter sides together and fold to make your card fit into regular card envelopes. However, you can also cut the cardstock to make original designs and sizes.
-
Step 2
Use colored markers, crayons, stamps, adhesive letters or cut letters from a magazine to write your message.
-
Step 3
Cut pictures from magazines. Cut an old brightly colored shirt into pieces that are about on1-inch square. Crop photos, or cut pieces from your duplicate photos. Cut pieces of colored paper or cardstock into various shapes close to 1-inch in diameter.
-
Step 4
Glue buttons, pieces of cloth, pictures and ribbon to your card to decorate it.
-
Step 5
Add a few decorations to the envelope, too. Be careful not to use buttons or anything that will break off in the mail system if you intend to mail the card.
-
Step 1
Use software that you already have loaded on your computer or a free card website. Examples of programs on your computer are Microsoft word, Microsoft Works Word, Open Office, HP Image Zone or a greeting card program.
-
Step 2
Insert photos that you have taken, clip art or a drawing from Paint using the "Insert" or "Import" option.
-
Step 3
Resize the image to fit your intended card size. Most programs allow you to grab the corner of the image and make it larger or smaller with your mouse pointer.
-
Step 4
Insert a text box and write your personalized message. You should be able to resize the text box by grabbing a corner as well.
-
Step 5
Print on cardstock, or choose a background and print on regular printer paper. Fold your greeting card.
