Many people make a big deal about the benefits of transferring photos from a digital camera to a computer. Not many talk about the convenience of transferring photos back onto a digital camera. Doing so can be an easy way to show off previously taken photos in situations where you'll have your camera with you. It can also be a way to get the photos off of a computer hard drive and safely back onto a camera's memory card. Performing this transfer is quite simple and takes just a few steps.

Instructions

    • 1

Connect your digital camera to your computer using the camera's included USB link cable. Simply plug one end of the cable into the "USB IN" port on your digital camera and the other end into an open USB port on your computer.

    • 2

Click on the "My Computer" icon on your desktop. Doing so will bring up a listing of the various drives currently attached in some capacity to your computer. Under the "Drives with Removable Storage" listing you will see a drive simply called "Removable Storage." The actual letter assigned to the drive will vary depending on your computer. This listing represents your camera's memory card. Double-click on it to bring up a folder.

Drag whatever photos you want to transfer onto your digital camera for the folder you've opened for "Removable Storage." This will copy the photos directly onto your camera's memory card. They will then appear on your camera when you go into "Review" mode, just as if you'd just taken them.

Disconnect your camera from your computer. The photos will have been successfully copied onto your digital camera and can be used as you wish.

Tips & Warnings

  • Always keep a copy of your important photographs on both your digital camera memory card and your computer's hard drive as a backup. Just in case you lose one copy, you will still have the other and won't have lost anything irreplaceable.
