How to Fix Problems Printing in Book Fold
If you are creating a book that is intended to be folded, you may notice that your text is coming too close to the fold and can actually be hard to read. This can be frustrating because trying to space out your text evenly so it doesn't come in contact with the edge of the paper can be tedious work. Luckily, most word processor programs have inserted a quick fix for this into the program. This article uses Microsoft Word.

1
In your word process program, select the "Format" tab at the top of the screen, followed by "Document."
-
2
Click either the "Up" button next to the left and right margins, or click the tab and type your own size in. In Word, the default setting is 1.25 inches for both the left and right. This keeps your text from falling into the fold area of the book.

3
Click "OK," and the margins change. Now when you print the document and assemble it into book form, the text no longer falls onto the fold.

Changing the margins between the columns of a page can correct the problem if you are folding a single piece of paper into a book. Click "Format" followed by "Column." This opens the column options menu. Adjust the spacing by clicking the "Width" and "Spacing" up until there is enough room in between the columns so the fold does not disrupt the information.

Tips & Warnings
Please note that most all major word processor programs (such as Corel World Perfect and Microsoft Word) function in almost the same way when it comes to adjusting the margins.
