How to Use Packing Tape Dispenser

Packing tape dispensers allow the user to seal box flaps and other shipping containers quickly and efficiently with one hand without pausing to cut tape with scissors or untangle tape that folds over on itself. Most tape dispensers are made in the general shape of a handgun, with a pistol grip and trigger mechanism for cutting tape.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

• Packing tape dispenser
• Boxes or other open containers

1. Close and align the flaps on the box for a straight edge.

2. Place the tape dispenser on the edge of the box with the tape sticking to it and overlapping the box flaps on both sides.

3. Place your free hand over the tape stuck to the box flaps, pulling the dispenser back with your other hand across the box flaps to seal the package with tape.

4. Pull the dispenser down the edge of the box a few inches and squeeze the trigger to cut the tape.

5. Press down the edge of the cut tape with your open hand to flatten and seal it against the box.

6. Repeat as necessary to secure the box for shipping or storage.

Tips & Warnings

• For dispensers that are not equipped with a trigger cutter, simply turn the dispenser at an angle to set the tape against the serrated cutting blade on the front of the dispenser, then twist the dispenser slightly upward and pull to cut the tape.
