Sunless tanners are used to achieve the look of a tan without the exposure to the sun or other harmful ultraviolet rays. The main ingredient that produces the tanning effect of your skin, is dihydroxyacetone or DHA. DHA is color additive that when applied to the skin, reacts with the amno acids in the skin's surface causing the tanning effect. Sunless tanners produce a temporary tanning effect that will eventually fade. While there have been advances in the Sunless Tanning industry, some who apply sunless tanners will not get the desired effect, or have applied too much, are unhappy with the results and want to remove the effects of the sunless tanner. This process can be achieved either by waiting a few days or if you choose, using common household items.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 2 cups baking soda
  • Bath tub filled with warm water
  • Loofah sponge
  1. Step 1

If you do nothing to remove the sunless tanner, it will fade and go away on its own over a period of a few days as your skin naturally sheds its outer layers.

  2. Step 2

Fill your bathtub with warm water, enough to cover your body. Add 2 cups of baking soda to the water, stirring with your hand to dissolve the baking soda completely. Get into the tub and soak.

  3. Step 3

After soaking for a while, use the loofah sponge to gently scrub the areas of your skin where you want to remove the sunless tanner.

  4. Step 4

If soaking in a tub is not for you, try getting damp in the shower, then rubbing the baking soda in a circular motion over your skin to remove the sunless tanning product.

Tips & Warnings
  • Baking soda is a skin softener and a gentle bleaching agent for your skin.
  • Do not scrub your skin to much or hard enough to make your skin raw, this will cause pain, redness and irritation.
