Stop Porn Addiction
Stop Porn Addiction

Pornography is an incredibly addictive and powerful thing in the lives of people who use it. Pornography coupled with masturbation sets off a natural dopamine rush in the users mind. Usually pornography addictions begin with soft core pornography, and as the user becomes accustomed to the soft core porn, they need harder and harder stuff. (much like a drug user). Many people who have quit pornography say the withdraw symptoms are worse than that of heroine or meth. The withdraw symptoms are usually lack of sleep, high anxiety / temptation to look at pornography.

Difficulty: Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Impeccable determination
  • A helpful thing is spirituality
  1. Step 1

The first step is to know and admit that you are addicted to pornography. You got into this on your own, and you can get out of it on your own. Just as much pleasure as you had getting addicted, you will suffer as much pain getting out of it.

  2. Step 2

Irradiate and destroy every single element of pornography that you have around you. This means delete all movies, destroy all DVD's, burn all magazines, and cancel movie channels that contain nudity. Do not keep any of it.

  3. Step 3

If you are a spiritual person, namely Christian, read scriptures about lust and adultery. Pray and pray often whenever you are tempted to go back.

  4. Step 4

Install pornography filters on your computer. A simple google search can find you these. Make the password something that will make you feel guilty such as "Godwilljudgeyouforthisandknowsallstopnow"

This way you will know that if you remove a filter, you will be having to type in a message to yourself.

  5. Step 5

Take a natural herb called St. John's wort. This can help curb anxiety, depression, stress that will come out of it.

  6. Step 6

Start seeing women and/or men as human beings with feelings again. No longer are they objects. Remember that many porn stars are drug addicts and abused, and the things that use to excite you were human beings who were taken advantage of in most cases. Remember that these people were children once, who most likely liked the same things as you did.

  7. Step 7

Whenever you are tempted, pray, or have a moment to reflect who you are. Imagine in your mind all the hardships, time, and money that porn has cost you. Think of it chaining you down as a person. Imagine yourself breaking these chains and DO NOT let the anxiety or temptation draw you back to it.

  8. Step 8

Read the bible, find a hobby, and pursue interests to keep you busy and occupied. If you looked at porn on the internet, do something away from your computer. If it was on Cable or Satellite, do things away from the TV.

  9. Step 9

Do not give in ONCE. You must think "Yes, even one time WILL hurt". Reflect on everything you have done so far. You will feel immense and intense anxiety and stress. You will feel tempted to go back, and your mind will make any excuse. Do not give in, not for a quick episode, peek or anything.

  10. Step 10

If you can withstand this for about a month, things will be extremely intense. Keep it up. Have knowledge that one day you will NOT feel this way any more. Your mind is giving you its last battle cry to give in. You will hit the ultimate low at some point. KEEP YOUR DISCIPLINE. Write yourself notes to read for when times get hard.

  11. Step 11

Eventually you will be free and no longer crave pornography. IT WILL HAPPEN! Just keep it up. You will love not being addicted to it any more!

Tips & Warnings
  • NEVER GIVE IN!
  • I mean NEVER EVER GIVE IN NO MATTER WHAT!
  • You will feel like you are going to go insane at times. This is natural as your body wants a natural fix of dopamine.
