As we watch or pet suffer with the pain of arthritis, you wonder what can be done. Learn what can be done to help with the pain of canine arthritis.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • A pet that suffers from the pain of arthritis
  1. Step 1

Has your dog suddenly changed right before your eyes? Through all the years, he has never been grouchy but now, he suddenly limps, prefers to sleep rather than play and not socialize at all. Well, maybe it is because your best friend is suffering from canine arthritis. Canine arthritis is similar to what arthritis is for humans, meaning not only is it irritating but definitely painful too.

  2. Step 2

As with humans they become irritable and miserable as well while suffering from this degenerative disease. Relief from canine arthritis is what you should start looking into, besides from going to the veterinarian, there are 3 things you can do on your own to help your dog be at ease.

  3. Step 3

Massage the area surrounding the most common body parts that experience joint pains like the hips, knees and elbows. Just do this lightly and be careful not to put too much pressure. Do this twice a day about 5 minutes per massage.

  4. Step 4

Next thing you can do is surprisingly, walk your dog. Although this might sound more negative than positive, light exercise (like walking) will help keep your dog’s joints lubricated, and since obesity is one effect of canine arthritis, walking just may help with some weight loss to help relieve some of the joint pain.

  5. Step 5

Third thing you can do to relieve your dog from pain is by providing him natural supplements. There are medications available but nothing beats a natural cure. Find one that treats the arthritis, reduces pain and swelling because medications are said to add toxic your dog’s system.

Tips & Warnings
  • Take you pet to a vet for treatment
  • Give as much extra attention as you can
  • Massage the trouble areas
  • Try supplements just for pets to ease the pain
  • Do Not give your pets aspirin
  • Talk with a qualified vet before starting supplement programs
