Liquid fabric softener not only makes your clothes and other laundry items soft and static-free ... it makes your clothes smell nice, too. You simply add it to the rinse cycle. But, it's not so "simple" if you're not very good at catching the rinse cycle. Learn how to use liquid fabric softener in the dryer, without damaging the dryer. Your laundry will come out soft and smelling good, and your bottle of fabric softener will last longer than ever before.
Things You'll Need
- Spray bottle
- White washcloth or any color sponge
Pour liquid fabric softener into a spray bottle one-quarter of the way up.
Fill the spray bottle the rest of the way with water. Shake vigorously. This mixture is one-fourth fabric softener to three-fourths water.
Squirt a white washcloth or sponge with the mixture until it is damp. Use the same cloth or sponge over and over until it wears out.
Toss the washcloth or sponge into the dryer with the wet clothes and dry as usual.
Tips & Warnings
- If the washcloth or sponge gets funky, just throw it in with a load of whites and it will be ready again for work in the dryer when it comes out.
- To avoid spots, do not spray liquid fabric softener directly on clothing.
