Step 1
Rest your elbow as much as you can to stop pain. Immobilize your elbow as much as possible as this is the fastest way to relieve elbow joint pain. Use a tennis elbow brace to keep from using the joint.
-
Step 2
Use ice to reduce swelling. Apply an ice pack to your elbow joint for 15-20 minutes at a time. Take ibuprofen such as Advil to keep joint pain and swelling down.
-
Step 3
Apply heat to ease joint pain. Use a heating pad under your elbow. Don't fall asleep while using a heating pad as you can easily burn your skin without being aware.
-
Step 4
Apply a topical joint pain cream such as Bengay to your elbow. Use as often as directions allow and make sure it includes pain relieving ingredients such as camphor.
-
Step 5
Consult your doctor if pain persists for more than 3 weeks as this may be an indication of a more serious injury.
