Instructions
-
Ladybug
-
1
Frost the cupcakes with red icing. Smooth the frosting so that it is flat, rather than with peaks and valleys.
-
2
Break a chocolate wafer down the middle into two pieces. Fit a writing tip inside a pastry bag and fill it with red frosting. Pipe small dots onto each chocolate wafer half to create the ladybug's wings.
-
-
3
Insert the tips of each chocolate wafer half into the cupcake. The flat sides of the cookie halves should face each other, so that it looks like the ladybug is flying.
-
4
Push a black licorice string into either side of a black gumdrop to create the antennae on the ladybug's head.
-
5
Place the gumdrop toward the front of the cupcake to complete the ladybug.
Spider
-
6
Frost the cupcakes with chocolate icing.
-
7
Insert the ends of four black licorice strings into one side of the cupcake to create the spider's legs. Do the same on the other side of the cupcake.
-
8
Place a black gumdrop at the front of the cupcake to create the spider's head.
Caterpillar
-
9
Frost the cupcakes with green icing. Make sure the frosting is smooth so that the caterpillar decoration can sit evenly.
-
10
Use a tube of black gel frosting to pipe a smiley face onto a miniature vanilla wafer.
-
11
Insert the bottom of the miniature vanilla wafer into the cupcake at one of its edges.
-
12
Place two candy-covered chocolates side by side just behind the smiley face to begin creating the caterpillar body. Add two more behind the first ones and continue with the body. Let the body curve one way and then the other until you reach the other side of the cupcake.
