Do a Fool Proof Card Trick
Do a Fool Proof Card Trick

This is a cool card trick that never fails. Literally idiot proof, and really impressive.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • All the face cards from a deck of cards plus the 10 of hearts and the 10 of spades.
  • An audience.
  1. Step 1

This trick comes in the form of a short story, you'll want to order the cards so that 10 of hearts is on top, with all four jacks under that, then the 10 of spades, all four queens, all four kings, and all four aces on the bottom.

  2. Step 2

To start the story you place the 10 of hearts on the table face up and say, "There was a guy named Mr. Heart that owned a hotel with four rooms in it, and one day four men came down the road, so he put each of them in one room." As you say this you place the four jacks on the table, one at each side of the 10 of hearts.

  3. Step 3

You then place the 10 of spades on top of the 10 of hearts and say, "Then Mr. Heart got sick and his cousin Mr. Spade came over to run the hotel for a while."

  4. Step 4

Then you say, "Then four women come down the road, and Mr. Spade thinks No problem, I'll put one of them in each room with the guys." As you say this you place each of the queens on top of one of the jacks.

  5. Step 5

You then say, "Four more men came down the road, and Mr. Spade put one of them in each of the rooms with the man and woman." As you say this you place each of the kings on top of one of the queens.

  6. Step 6

And finally you say, "Then four more women came down the road...and they were put in each of the rooms as well." And you place on of each of the aces on top of each of the kings.

  7. Step 7

You should now have four stacks of cards that each include a jack on the bottom, a queen on top of that, a king on top of that, and an ace on top of that. With the 10 or hearts and spades in the middle. You now remove the 10 of spades and set it aside saying, "Mr. Heart got better and came back and immediately knew he had to do something to fix the room situation."

  8. Step 8

You then pick up all four stacks of cards placing them face down, one on top of the other in your hand and say, "So Mr. Heart got all his guests together and rearranged them."

  9. Step 9

At this point you can either cut the cards yourself or hand them to an audience member to have them cut. This is CRUCIAL, only allow standard cuts, you/they can take cards from the top and place them on the bottom as much as the want or vice versa, but they can NOT be shuffled at all.

  10. Step 10

Once the cards have been cut several times you take them back and say, "Mr. Heart placed them in the rooms like this." You then start to place the cards on the table on each of the four sides of the 10 of hearts again. It doesn't matter what order you deal them out in as long as you keep the pattern the same. For instance you can deal them out clockwise, counter clockwise, left right top bottom, as long as you do it the same way every time.

  11. Step 11

When you are finished you should have four stacks of cards again but now all four jacks, queens, kings, and aces should be together in their own separate stacks.

Tips & Warnings
  • Once mastered this trick is fool proof and can be reset over and over. Just remember to instruct them to only use standard cuts, no fancy cuts or shuffling.
