Things You'll Need:
- 1 lb broccoli
- 1/4 cup chopped almonds
- 3 tbsp vegetable oil or butter
- 3 garlic cloves
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbs ginger spread or fresh minced ginger
- 1 tsp lemon juice
-
Step 1
ginger rootWash broccoli and cut it into flowers. Trim, peel stalks and slice them into thin pieces (if you want to use them). Peel garlic cloves and mince them. I always use a garlic mincer as it is very convenient. If you use ginger root instead of the spread, peel ginger root and mince it. You would need 1 teaspoon.
-
Step 2
In a pan add oil and heat it up. Saute almonds in oil for 1 minute, add the minced garlic and fry it for two more minutes. Then add broccoli and stir fry until barley tender for about 3 minutes.
-
Step 3
Stir in soy sauce and ginger spread. Continue stir-frying for one more 1 minute. Squeeze the lemon and add the juice.
This side dish is wonderful for a barbecue; serve it with steamed rice. You also can make it as a side dish of a Chinese meal or serve it with mashed potatoes and turkey.
