Ginger comes originally from Asia and is not only enjoyed as a spice, it is also very healthy.
You get many products which contain ginger: tea, spread, candy, lemonade, jam, pickles and many more.
I love the the spicy ginger tea because it helps to regulate digestion. The taste of fresh ginger root is very intense and you just need a little bit to add some exotic flavor to you dishes.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 lb broccoli
  • 1/4 cup chopped almonds
  • 3 tbsp vegetable oil or butter
  • 3 garlic cloves
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbs ginger spread or fresh minced ginger
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  1. Step 1

Wash broccoli and cut it into flowers. Trim, peel stalks and slice them into thin pieces (if you want to use them). Peel garlic cloves and mince them. I always use a garlic mincer as it is very convenient. If you use ginger root instead of the spread, peel ginger root and mince it. You would need 1 teaspoon.

  2. Step 2

In a pan add oil and heat it up. Saute almonds in oil for 1 minute, add the minced garlic and fry it for two more minutes. Then add broccoli and stir fry until barley tender for about 3 minutes.

  3. Step 3

Stir in soy sauce and ginger spread. Continue stir-frying for one more 1 minute. Squeeze the lemon and add the juice.
This side dish is wonderful for a barbecue; serve it with steamed rice. You also can make it as a side dish of a Chinese meal or serve it with mashed potatoes and turkey.
