      Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

      Hold the coconut in one hand and locate the nut's seam. The seam will be in the center of the coconut and runs the entire length.

      Tap the seam with the back of the cleaver until the nut breaks open.

      Pour the milk from the coconut and discard.
